Tasmania is well known for its vast expanses of untamed wilderness, and maybe no other region quite encapsulates the raw power of nature more so than the South West.
Connecting with Mt Field National Park across a valley corridor of ancient rainforest, the combined extent encompasses a significant portion of what makes up the UNESCO listed Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area – a site protected for its outstanding natural and cultural values.
Subsequently, both avid hikers and recreational walkers alike have long been drawn to this remote pocket of the state for its magnificent scenery.
Over the course of four sensational days – explore rugged peaks, numerous waterfalls, and discover unique endemic flora and fauna, all while carrying your day pack only.
Travel with experienced Tasmanian guides on a diverse itinerary which includes some of the best walks in the region – with all snacks and meals provided, staying overnight in comfortable locally owned accommodation.
Please note – due to the mountainous nature of the terrain, and the famously changeable weather conditions – this walk is graded moderate to hard, meaning a good level of fitness is required. Quality wet weather gear is also essential. Your guides may choose to alter the planned itinerary accordingly if deemed necessary, however we will always provide the most scenic walking options possible, based on the local conditions. Daily guided walks curated to immerse you in the region’s unique landscape, flora and fauna, including Lake Pedder, Russell and Lady Barron Falls, the magnificent Tarn Shelf and old growth rainforests of the Florentine Valley. Two talented, experienced, accredited and safety gear equipped guides to drive, care and cook for you throughout the tour. Return transport ex-Hobart, and all tour transfers in our comfortable 12-seater mini-coach with luggage trailer. 3 nights comfortable twin-share accommodation (limited single supplements at additional cost), with ensuites if available and sustainably provided. 3 breakfasts, 4 lunches and 3 two-course dinners, plus trail mix, nibbles, fresh fruit, snacks, tea and coffee, biscuits / cake and non-alcoholic drinks throughout. Located just an hour south of Hobart, Lunawanna / Allonah (Bruny Island) is renowned for its beautiful natural scenery, diverse wildlife, fresh local produce and stunning hiking opportunities. The landscape is spectacular- featuring towering sea cliffs, vast stretches of native forest, and seemingly endless beaches.
Here the wildlife is diverse, and the island is well-known as a birdwatchers’ paradise. Many rare and endangered species call this home – including the forty-spotted pardalote, the migratory swift parrot, and the coast dwelling hooded plover.
Over four days, explore the popular and lesser known attractions of Lunawanna / Allonah (Bruny Island) – all while carrying your day pack only. Hike to the edge of the Fluted Cape, marvel at pounding surf beaches of Cloudy Bay, and climb to the summit of Mt Mangana – the highest point on the island.
This is a wonderful active, yet relaxing walking adventure to one of Tasmania’s highlight destinations.
