Whale Watching safari

Wild Byron Whale Watching operate daily tours between June and October for the adventurous at heart on our purpose built boat “Apollo 2” : 360 degree views, padded seating and powerful engines for safety, speed and comfort.
Our focus is to provide you an intimate experience with the whales on a small personalised safari style tour, with a maximum of 12 passengers.
Marine experts and researchers will guide you through the cruise with in-depth knowledge of the whales and their behaviours, while listening to the Humpback Whale song via our underwater hydrophone.
Professional onboard photographers will capture memorable moments of your trip and share the photos daily on our social media so you can sit back and enjoy the experience.
As we explore the stunning coastal scenery of the Cape Byron Marine Park, it is highly likely that we will encounter several whales and other marine creatures such as dolphins, turtles and migratory seabirds.
Whale sightings guaranteed or your second trip is free!

Please ensure to enter a valid phone number on your booking including country code in case we need to contact you regarding your tour or for any time changes / cancellations due to ocean or weather conditions.

Tours operate from the Brunswick heads Boat Harbour, just 15 mins from Byron bay.

Whale Swim

Humpback Whales are gentle and curious by nature, and will often approach us for a bit of people watching!
Given the opportunity, we are able to swim with these giant majestic animals and experience them in their ocean element. We endeavour to find relaxed and playful whales that are curious and give them an opportunity to swim with us. It is totally up to the whales wether they swim with us or not and ocean conditions also need to be suitable.
Whale swim encounters are limited to late august early September only as this is when the curious adolescences are migrating past on their southern migration.
Whale swims 2023 are open for bookings online every Friday at 2pm from the 11th of August until the 15th of September.
Previous ocean swimming experience is essential.

Mask, fins, and wetsuit are supplied, but if you have your own equipment we recommend you bring it.

Whale swim encounters will not take place within the boundary of the Cape Byron Marine Park.
