Yalumba Cooperage Tour
Enjoy a rare insight into the craft of wine barrel making, a tradition that has been happening at Yalumba for over 100 years.
Our Cooperage experience will expertly guide you on a unique visit. We are the only producing cooperage attached to a working winery in the Southern Hemisphere. During this tour, you will receive an in-depth explanation of how a barrel is crafted from scratch. You and your guests will have the opportunity to engage with our master cooper, whilst he performs one component of the barrel-making process. A chance to talk directly with the master cooper and ask questions on this centuries-old skill is also included.
You will then be guided to The Yalumba Wine Room where you will enjoy a tasting flight of wines aged in Yalumba coopered barrels, whilst you enjoy these wines you will also receive an introduction to Yalumba's rich history and our family owners the Hill-Smiths.
Please note: The experiences are only available from Monday - Friday (excluding public holidays) - We ask guests to arrive 10 minutes before the experience commences.

Yalumba Unlocked
The Yalumba Unlocked experience invites you behind the scenes of one of Australia’s most historic family-owned wineries, combining heritage, craftsmanship, wine and genuine Barossa hospitality.
Your experience begins in our beautifully designed Wine Room, where your Yalumba Ambassador will introduce you to the Hill-Smith family and the remarkable story of Yalumba, established in 1849.
From there, you’ll be taken on a privately hosted journey through the historic Yalumba estate, exploring our beautiful grounds, heritage buildings and unique winemaking spaces. Discover Australia’s only working winery Cooperage, where the traditional craft of barrel making continues today, before visiting our iconic Signature Cellar and the atmospheric Tank 11 and Tank 12.
Your tour concludes back in the Wine Room with our Rare & Fine tasting, hosted by your Yalumba Ambassador. Enjoy a curated selection of Yalumba’s premium wines while discovering the stories, inspiration and craftsmanship behind each one. The tasting is accompanied by a generous Cooper’s Platter showcasing the best of local Barossa produce, including Barossa Valley Cheese Company cheeses, Angaston Smokehouse meats, fresh bread from a local bakery and seasonal produce from Yalumba’s own orchard and surrounding Barossa producers.
This is more than a winery tour — it’s an opportunity to discover the people, places and craftsmanship behind Yalumba while enjoying a true taste of the Barossa.
Please note that dietary requirements require a minimum of 24 hours’ notice to be catered for.
We recommend wearing comfortable, appropriate walking shoes as the experience includes walking through the grounds and historic winery spaces. Please allow approximately two hours for the full experience.
During peak visitation periods, online bookings for this experience close at 9:30am on the day.
The Yalumba Unlocked Tour departs daily at 11:00am and is available to join subject to prior payment and availability.

Yalumba Estate Picnic for 2
We are extremely proud of our Yalumba grounds and look forward to sharing them with you through our Yalumba Estate Picnic. Select from two of our favourite tasting flights, Grenache or Samuel's Collection. After your tasting choose one of these perfect picnic wines to have as your wine with lunch (valued up to $40). You will then receive a precinct map and guidance from staff as to where you will be able to enjoy your local produce picnic. There are a number of locations to choose from, grab a picnic rug and even play some lawn games if you choose*.
Picnic Pack includes:
- Private wine tasting, your selection of Grenache focussed tasting or our Samuel's Collection White & Red tasting.
- Yalumba Precinct Map
- Local produce picnic pack – Includes: two local cheeses and crackers, Angaston Smokehouse cured meats, local fresh & dried fruit, local baked sourdough and condiments.
- A pair of Riedel wine glass to keep
- Bottle of Yalumba wine from your selected tasting flights (1 bottle per couple)
- Antipodes water

If the weather isn’t suitable for an outdoor picnic, there’s no need to worry. You can settle into the warmth and charm of our Family Tasting Room or Wine Room, with a crackling open fire in the Wine Room during the cooler winter months.
