The Australian bush is full of edible fruits, roots, nuts, seeds and leaves. For centuries Aboriginal people have gathered, hunted and harvested this bush tucker .
The rest of us are only beginning to learn about the incredible natural and native food resources on our doorstep.
Join Delta Kay a local Arakwal woman, on a two-hour walk of discovery. As you walk Delta will teach you how to identify what’s good to eat and what’s not.
Finding bush tucker takes special knowledge that developed from living close to nature. Delta has lived on country all of her life, she is proud Arakwal custodian and is committed to working in genuine partnership with our local community to promote an awareness, understanding and mutual respect between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people.
Afterwards enjoy some local tea and coffee and cookies.
To minimise impact on the plants we alternate tours between Mullumbimby Heritage Park and Bush Tucker Gardens (behind the Federal Community Preschool). Transport is not included on this tour, but if you need a lift, we offer transfers at a small extra cost.


If you have any food allergies we would recommend that you not do this walk, as we will be tasting various foods.

Imagine exploring the Australian rainforest at night, searching for nocturnal wildlife, instead of wielding a torch you’ll wear special night vision goggles, this is military grade technology that lets you see animals as they go about their business.

Because we don’t use bright lights, we are less intrusive and that means we can be more connected to what is going on all around us. For many of our clients, seeing the forest in the dark is an enlightening experience.

After your walk enjoy a hot chocolate, gazing up at the starry night. Heaven!

Nights with less moonlight are best for a Night Vision Bushwalk. On a typical night we see five species. Our regular sightings include Possum, Pademelon, Bandicoot, Tawny Frogmouth, Leaf tailed Gecko, Fuscipes, Melomys, Micro Bats and Frogs. Whilst we do our very best to give you a great experience, we are dealing with nature so we cannot guarantee animal sightings.



These walks are not recommended for people with epilepsy.

Whilst it is possible to see Platypus at any time of the day, our best chance is just after dawn.

We pick you up from your Byron Bay accommodation and drive to the special Platypus area. From there we start our 90- minute easy walk along the creek looking for Platypus.

Your guide will lead you at a gentle pace, showing you what to look for and sharing insights about this much-loved and quirky Australian animal. We usually see one or two Platypus, loads of birds and sometimes even Koalas.
After watching the Platypus have their breakfast we relax with ours – a picnic by the creek – before returning to Byron Bay. Please let us know if you have any special dietary requirements when you book.

We can’t guarantee Platypus sightings on this tour, but don’t worry, if we don’t see them, we take you on another day, free!

Please note: The longer loop walk is currently closed due to damage
to the track incurred during the February 2022 flooding event. We have
modified the walk for people still wanting a longer walk, starting at
Rummery Park campground, on the Boggy Creek walk to the falls, then walk
down Minyon Drive to Minyon Grass where we walk to the base if the
falls and then return along the same track. Join us on a 4 hour (10
km) walk from Rummery Park to the base of Minyon Falls with an
environmental scientist as your guide.

Join us for an unforgettable 3 day hiking experience in the amazing Byron Bay and the Hinterland. On this journey you will walk 32km, on 3 separate walks, in World Heritage National Parks, and experience, 4 forest types that represent this biodiversity hotspot. including a walk with local Arakwal woman Aunty Delta. All our guides are very experienced and really know their stuff. You will stay luxury 4 star eco cottages, situated in the middle of Nightcap National Park. The food is catered for using local produce. Day One
We will pick you up from your Byron Bay accommodation and local Arakwal woman Delta Kay will welcome you to country and lead you on a 5km walk around Cape Byron (Walgun), telling her stories of what it was like to grow up in this iconic place, and sharing local bush tucker.
We will then drive 45 minutes to Nightcap National Park and do the 5km Blue Fig Trail Walk. Where you'll walk through, subtropical rainforest, dry/wet sclerophyll and see a creek and waterfall.
We will continue on to your accommodation nestled in the Byron Hinterland. Dinner will be locally sourced and will include beer and wine. Day two
After your locally sourced breakfast, we will drive for 1 hour drive to Mount Nardi. For the trail head of the 19km (6.5 hours) Nightcap Historic Track. This walk starts at 850m and finishes at 350m but there are up and down sections on the way. This track is significant for many reasons, it was used by the Widjabul people and is said the Cleverman could be found at Dirangah Rocks, which are impressive eroded volcanic vents. It was also used as the old Postmans Track from Nimbin to Murwillumbah. Along the way you will see; many forest types, magnificent vistas of the tweed caldera and the old postmans tree (where he used to sleep on his journey). You will have lunch your locally sourced lunch on the track. The hike finishes at Rummery park which is a 2 minute drive from Nightcap Ridge.

If 19km is too much for you we can offer you an alternative 5 km (2 hours) Boggy Creek Walk. This walk will start at Rummery Park, where you will follow the creek all the way to Minyon Falls, then head back to along the escarpment on the eastern boundary trail back to Rummery Park.
Dinner will be locally sourced and will include beer and wine. Day Three
Another early start, after your locally sourced breakfast, and pack up all your gear. We will drive to Minyon Falls. We will then do the 8km km hike to Minyon Grass, walking through a forest of giant strangler fig, brush box and blackbutt, to the bottom on Minyon Falls (the tallest waterfall in the hinterland), have our lunch, before we will then walk through some lowland subtropical rainforest, then back up the hill to Minyon Grass.
About 4pm we will then drop you back off at Byron Bay or at the airport. Walk only option
You can opt for a hiking only option, we will supply the transport and guides, you'll be staying in your own accommodation and providing your own food.
