Kaikōura Helicopters Grand Alpine flight

If you cannot see the departure time you would prefer, please email info@kaikourahelicopters.com or call us on +64 3 319 6609 for more availability.
An incredible experience, capturing the best of Kaikoura's magnificent views of coastal shorelines, unique landscapes and towering mountain ranges that rise above 8000ft.
Our tour will depart from our Kaikōura beachfront helipads, where we will head North along the rugged Kaikōura coastline, where your pilot will point out the slips and repairs carried out since the 2016 Kaikoura Earthquake that blocked off road access to Kaikoura for over a year.
Once we reach the Clarence River, we head West towards the Seaward Kaikōura mountain range, flying over multiple slips and fault lines. Your pilot will show you where the Clarence river was diverted from its original course, now flowing through what used to be a farmer’s paddock!
Fly over the George Saddle, out into the Clarence Valley where you will be surrounded by the Seaward and Inland Kaikōura ranges. Your pilot will find a secluded spot high up in the mountains to land, either on top of the skyline with breathtaking views either out over the Clarence Valley or nestled right in amongst the mountains in a small clearing only accessible by helicopter.
After re-boarding the helicopter, we will venture South down the Clarence Valley before turning East and flying back over through the mountains on track to the summit of Mt Fyffe where we will touch down again. Here you can get out of the helicopter and breathe in the fresh air and soak up 360 degrees of mind blowing panoramic views of this unique and special place - where the mountains meet the sea.

Experience the best of Kaikōura – whales, rugged mountains and fine dining.

This incredible collaboration is the ultimate Kaikōura experience.

Lifting off from our beachfront helipads, we head out toward the Hikurangi Marine Reserve in search of the incredible wildlife in our waters. Kaikōura is not only home to the magnificent Sperm Whale, but is also a migratory route for a variety of different whale and dolphin species such as the Humpback Whale, Blue Whale, Southern Right Whale and Orca, so we never know from flight to flight when we might spot something different!

When finished searching for whales, we will head West across the coastline and inland over the Kaikoura flats on our way into the Seaward Kaikoura mountains. Your pilot will point out landslides and cracks through the mountainside caused by the 7.8 Kaikoura Earthquake back in 2016 and any wild animals you may pass before finding a remote landing site to set down. Take the opportunity to get out of the helicopter and take in the magnificent views and breathe in the fresh air.

Once you have taken your photos, it's back into the helicopter to fly down and out of the mountains, along the Hapuku River to land at the amazing Hapuku Lodge. Here you will be treated to a 3 course a la carte lunch at their beautiful restaurant.

To end your experience, we depart from Hapuku Lodge and fly down the beautiful coastline back to our beach front helipads.
