Let's dive right in to Darwin's multi-cultural character - a walk through the Chinese museum and Taoist temple; a wander through the back lanes of Darwin City where you'll see amazing life-sized murals and artwork; a visit to Aboriginal Bush Traders where you can purchase locally made crafts and take a bush-tucker morning tea.
Then a leisurely drive to explore the myriad different architectural styles of Darwin housing, from the original Burnett-style houses on stilts, greek and Chinese inspired building, to some modern marvels - and a few monstrosities.
Then a walking tour of the wharf precinct (the same one that featured in the Baz Lurhmann epic "Australia") where you'll find hidden staircases, the Deckchair cinema, a labyrinth of tunnels under the city CBD; and an including an amazing virtual reality experience of the bombing of Darwin, and the Royal Flying Doctor Service (you can even explore inside an RFDS plane).
We'll take lunch on the edge of the wharf looking out over the beautiful Darwin harbour where you can reflect on how you want to spend the rest of your stay.
