Walking Tours Mount Glorious

Escape the city and step into
the cool, green world of the subtropical rainforest on this relaxed,
small-group nature experience. Designed for travellers who enjoy quiet
immersion in nature, this tour offers a deeper connection to one of
Queensland’s most beautiful and lesser-known environments.
After pick-up, we travel along
the winding road up Mount Glorious, where the air cools and the landscape
transforms into dense rainforest within D’Aguilar National Park. The journey
itself is part of the experience, gradually leaving the city behind as towering
trees and thick vegetation surround us.
At Maiala, we explore a peaceful
walking track through an ancient forest, where towering trees, lush ferns, and
a rich canopy create a truly immersive environment. The rainforest is alive
with sound, and your guide will help you tune into the distinctive calls of
species such as the Whipbird, Catbird, and Wompoo Fruit Dove. With patience and
a bit of luck, these birds can often be spotted among the foliage.
This is also a great place to
encounter some of the rainforest’s more elusive wildlife. Along the track, we
may see skinks, land mullets, or even lace monitors. Pademelons, a small and
shy member of the kangaroo family, are often seen near the walking track,
quietly moving through the undergrowth.
The walk is approximately 5 km
and is taken at a relaxed pace over around three hours, allowing plenty of time
to observe wildlife, take photos, and enjoy the forest atmosphere without
rushing.
We pause for lunch and
refreshments in a tranquil picnic area surrounded by nature, offering a moment
to rest and take in the peaceful setting. In the afternoon, we continue on the
western side of the mountain, where scenic lookouts offer beautiful views
across the forested landscape and provide more opportunities to experience the
diversity of this remarkable environment.
