Experience the rich heritage of sugar cane in the Mackay region with this unique paddock-to-plate-to-bottle food tourism experience at Sarina Sugar Shed. A multiple award-winning destination, recognised as a prestigious Best of Queensland Experience, you'll embark on a one-hour guided tour behind the scenes of a miniature sugar mill and boutique distillery. With an expert guide leading the way you'll learn about the history of sugar cane farming in the region and see modern methods in action. You'll also have a chance to taste freshly-crushed sugar cane juice and sample the award-winning rum and liqueur products made on-premises (age 18+ only), as well as delicious chutneys, sauces and relishes made with locally sourced produce.
