Using high-quality materials, including a complimentary Moleskin sketchbook, you’ll create a collection of sketches to mark your journey. Your tutor will provide practical tips on composition, observation, and technique to help you produce meaningful artwork.
The plein-air format lets you draw directly from nature, focusing on the light, shapes, and details of the scenery. Whether you’re just starting out or have prior experience, this is a great way to connect with your creativity while enjoying the outdoors. If the weather turns we have indoor studio options as a retreat.

Meet other like minded creatives and explore the beautiful landscapes of Queenstown. No experience necessary, we provide all the materials you will need along with a gourmet picnic. Enjoy a day of creative immersion and connection to the NZ landscape. Options for locations include either Lake Hayes or Moke lake just out of Queenstown which is lake side and weather dependent. Or for the more adventurous - Please have a look at our Alta Lake high mountain hiking tour - which we run outside of the winter ski season. Which is a 1 hour hike uphill into the Remarkables mountain range behind double cone to the hidden emerald green alpine lake.

A one of a kind art adventure in the stunning mountains of Queenstown, New Zealand . Come along and join us in the South Island beauty, a creative experience with your own personal tutor and guide. With all your painting materials provided on this full day trip This tour is a treat for the senses and inspiration for your creative soul. You will immerse yourself in the deep lush forests and high mountain vistas.
Owner and local Artist Raquel Carter, an experienced art teacher, will take you on a guided tour that will embrace the wild outdoors, experience connecting in with nature in the art of 'plein air' painting : out in the open air with a small bespoke group.
This adventure is for all levels and includes just a small amount of walking if chosen, large group bookings available on request, please contact us directly.
A picnic lunch is included, along with a complimentary sketchbook and art kit, use of all art materials and easels are supplied.

Experience the Magic of Nature with Our Routeburn Taster Art Adventure
Spend a full day out in the NZ landscape exploring, while sketching and painting, creating lasting memories to take home. With your guide and experienced art tutor and Queenstown local, you’ll capture stunning landscapes and explore the surrounding mountains through your own artistic perspective.
This experience is open to all skill levels— Included is a tour out to the Routeburn trailhead, a comfortable level of fitness is required to walk the 45 min loop trail beside the river, a gourmet picnic on location and an outdoor painting session including all art materials provided. We use high-quality materials, and this includes a complimentary art kit with Moleskin sketchbook and sketching aquarelles. With these you will create a collection of sketches to mark your journey, that you can continue using on your holiday. Your tutor will provide practical tips on composition, observation, and technique to help you produce meaningful artwork. Along with a stop at Glenorchy village on the way home for a few photo's.
