Kindred: Women’s guided day hike of Deep Creek Curcuit, Fleurieu Peninsula.
Kindred is a guided hiking program for women who want to deepen their confidence, strengthen their connection to nature, and build real capability outdoors - without the intimidation, ego, or competitiveness that often surrounds adventure spaces.
This is steady, soulful bushwalking paired with practical outdoor skills and personal development themes designed to help you expand, inside and out. Led by qualified female guides, each walk is structured to help you feel safe, seen, and supported while learning the skills that make nature feel natural - packing, planning, navigation, risk management, and trail confidence.
Destination: Trig Camp Ground to Tapanappa via Deep Creek Cove and return via waterfall.
Distance: 10.6kms with 507m elevation.
Duration: 6hours (9am - 3pm)
This guided walk begins at Trig Campground and follows a loop through Deep Creek Cove to Tapanappa Lookout, returning via Deep Creek Waterfall. The walk covers 10.6km with approximately 507 metres of elevation gain, making it a full and rewarding day on the trail.
The route follows sections of the Heysen Trail, beginning with a gradual descent along single-track trail to the rocky and sandy shoreline of Deep Creek Cove. After crossing the inlet, the walk climbs steeply through a short scramble before continuing on a steady uphill fire track to the exposed Tapanappa Lookout, where we’ll pause for lunch. Toilets and rainwater are available at the lookout.
From Tapanappa, the trail moves back into the trees, descending through switchbacks to Deep Creek Waterfall. Time is set aside here for journaling and reflection, before the final climb through grass trees back to Trig Campground.
This walk is rated Hard and is suited to women with a good level of fitness who are comfortable with steep climbs, uneven terrain, and a longer day of hiking. The walk runs from 9:00am to 3:00pm, allowing time to move steadily, rest when needed, and engage with the landscape.
Skills & Learning Focus
This walk includes the second learning focus of the program, centred on navigation and orientation.
Along the way, we’ll explore:
Reading trail maps and understanding signage
Introductory compass use
Landform and landscape-based navigation using natural markers and sun position
Trail awareness, including recognising decision points and track features
These learnings are woven into the day to support confidence, awareness, and capability on more complex trails.
