Your journey begins with a warm welcome at a local marae. Here you will meet your hosts and be introduced to the history, values, and traditions of the area. Over tea and conversation, you will hear about the people who belong to this place and the importance of manaakitanga, the care and hospitality shown to visitors.

Travelling the Backroads

Leaving the marae, you will travel along scenic rural backroads and coastal landscapes. Along the way your guide shares stories of ancestors, local events, and the deep connection between Māori and the whenua. These are personal stories that belong to the land and the communities who live here.
