We encourage the use of established bike trails and ask our customers to please be aware of leaving a minimal footprint on the environment. Southbound Escapes donates $1 from every bike hire to Dalmeny Boardrider's Association, a community group that run regular surfing competitions, and promote community involvement and ocean safety for local youths. Southbound Escapes also donates $1 per bike hire to the Narooma Mountain Bike Club to help develop the mountain bike trails around Narooma. There is the option to donate further via the extras tab when doing an online booking.

One of the most beautiful things to do in Narooma is to take a bike ride along the Narooma to Dalmeny cycle track. The 18 km round trip route hugs the stunning coastline on a cycle track that was built and funded by the community. Starting from the Narooma Wharf you may spot giant sting rays, pelicans, fish and sometimes even seals. Continue along the track to the Narooma Bridge with panoramic views across the Wagonga Inlet to Gulaga Mountain. From here continue to the Mill Bay Boardwalk and on to the numerous breath-taking beaches all the way to Mummaga Lake in Dalmeny. On the return take the track to Fosters Bay and take in the views over the Wagonga Inlet. Stop at Quarterdeck Restaurant for a quick refreshment (Not included).


Explore the town of Narooma with numerous restaurants, shops and bars. Marvel at the seal colony at the Australian Rock lookout or take in the views to Baranguba (Montague) Island from the Narooma Golf Course. Cycle to Surf Beach and view the magnificent Glasshouse Rocks. There are numerous trails around Narooma. We will supply you with maps of our recommended trails. This multi day rental will give you plenty of time to explore.

We will pick you up from your accommodation in Narooma and transfer you to our office where we fit you out with bikes, helmets etc.
We will give you a map of how to get to the Tilba Valley Winery via the Old Highway and full pre-ride training. It is approximately a 55 minute (12 km approx) E-Bike ride from Narooma to the Tilba Valley Winery through beautiful rolling valleys with stunning countryside giving you around an hour to explore the Narooma sights before you set off for the winery.
The pedal assist advanced technology of our Giant Fathom Electric Powered Mountain Bikes means that you can choose individually the level of difficulty for your ride. The electric motor starts as soon as you pedal and goes up to 25 km/hr. You can either ride the e-bike with no assist like a normal bike or full level assist to cruise through the countryside with ease. We are often told by returning guests "I am never riding a normal bike again. How much are they and where can I buy one from?" - Yes they are that much fun!
The Tilba Valley Winery is nestled on 10 acres of established vines on stunning Corunna Lake just between Narooma and Tilba. Producing grapes for over 40 years they produce Semillon, Cabernet Sauvignon, Reisling, Traminer, Shiraz, and Chardonnay wines. They also have a range of locally produced and unique craft beers.
This is one of the areas best kept secrets. From the minute you arrive at the winery the relaxed atmosphere and the views over the Corunna Lake make this experience one of our most popular things to do.

If you love getting close to nature and getting away from crowds then this is the ride for you. We will drop you off at at Kianga Road where you will start your ride. (This avoids riding on the highway). The loop from Kianga Road via the Wagonga Scenic Drive back in to Narooma is one of our favourite cycle routes as there is always so much to see. The loop takes in stunning vistas over the Wagonga Inlet from the lookout high up on the hill with views right out to sea including to Baranguba (Montague Island.) Riding mainly on quiet dirt roads there is no better way to connect with friends and take in all of the beauty of the surrounds. Look out for the incredible wildlife. We have spotted wallabies, echidnas, and even a gorgeous wombat (as seen in the photo taken by one of our clients).
There is the most beautiful picnic area at the back of the Wagonga Inlet at Brices Bay. Stop and enjoy your local produce picnic with views over the Wagonga Inlet oyster leases. This is a long ride with lots of steep hills so stopping in such a tranquil setting is good to give you a rest before setting off again. The last part of the loop takes in stunning dairy pastures and more amazing views over the water. (Please see the Wagonga Loop and Wagonga Princes Self Guided Tour for the option to ride as far as Brices Bay and then put the bikes on to the Wagonga Princess at Brices Bay and enjoy a leisurely guided cruise back in to Narooma)
As mentioned this ride has a number of very steep hills. Whilst the e-bikes make climbing the hills manageable this ride is not suitable for young children and would most suit intermediate to advanced riders. Please also note there are no facilities anywhere on this ride so please make sure you bring plenty of water with you.

One of the most beautiful things to do in Narooma is to take a bike ride along the Narooma to Dalmeny cycle track. The 21 km round trip route hugs the stunning coastline on a cycle track that was built and funded by the community. Starting from the Narooma Wharf you may spot giant sting rays, pelicans, fish and sometimes even seals and continuing along the track to the Narooma Bridge with panoramic views across the Wagonga Inlet to Gulaga Mountain in the distance. From here continue on to the Mill Bay Boardwalk and on to the numerous breathtaking beaches all the way to Mummaga Lake in Dalmeny. At certain times of year you can spot whales breaching (May to November) or dolphins frolicking in the waves. On the return take the track to Fosters Bay and take in the views over the Wagonga Inlet. Stop at Quarterdeck Restaurant for a quick refreshment (Not included). Explore the town of Narooma with numerous restaurants, shops and bars. Marvel at the seal colony at the Australian Rock lookout or take in the views to Montague Island from the Narooma Golf Course. Cycle to Surf Beach and view the magnificent Glasshouse Rocks. Continue from Shelly Beach on to St Patricks Estate where Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban were married. This was also the where Baz Lurhmann filmed the blockbuster The Great Gatsby. The spectacular view from here over Manly is quite breathtaking.


The next stop is North Head which has one of the most incredible views over Sydney Harbour. See the battlements built to protect Sydney Harbour during the Second World War. The Narooma to Dalmeny Coastal Trail has been inhabited by the local Yuin Nations people dating back many thousands of years due to its abundance of produce and the importance of the spiritual identity of the area. The coast was a place of gathering and ancient middens can be found up and down the South Coast. The area around Narooma and Tilba connects the Yuin people to their spiritual identity including Gulaga the Mother Mountain (Mount Dromedary) and Baranguba (Montague Island) her eldest son. Our local Yuin Nation elder will enthral you with stories as ancient as the trail itself handed down from generation to generation.

The tour starts at our shop and from there your self guided tour takes you to the Bar Rock Lookout. This is where you will stop for 45 minutes to meet with our Yuin Nation Guide. With views to Gulaga and Baranguba from here the Yuin stories are all the more poignant. We cannot emphasise enough how a trip to Narooma and Tilba would not be complete without connecting the Yuin culture to this area of such intense natural beauty and cultural significance. The words spiritual, immersive, authentic and transformational are words that have been used to describe the story telling experience.

Our unique locations in and around Narooma are chosen especially for their scenic locations, to re-connect with nature and to dine alfresco away from others for a more private experience.
The High Tea Luxury Picnic is the ultimate in luxury outdoor dining with a beautiful white tent, low lying wooden table, linen napkins, real glass and table ware, styling pieces around the picnic set up, an ice bucket, Bluetooth speakers and different areas to relax and enjoy your day.

Our most popular picnic is the High Tea Picnic. It ticks all the boxes. Picture the Tented Luxury Picnic setting with vintage teacups and saucers, 3 tier cake stands, vintage sandwich platters, crystal cut jam and cream bowls, teapots, crystal cut champagne glasses, crystal cut drink dispenser. Bodalla Bakery is the caterer for the High Tea Picnics with finger sandwiches, petite fours sweet treats, and fresh fruit to name just a few items on the menu. A fantastic mix of sweet and savoury. Please note - Our price is for the set up only. The High Tea boxes are a separate cost from Bodalla Bakery.
