Join New Zealand’s first Gin Tour Visit three tasting rooms around Cardrona, Arrowtown & Queenstown Taste over 12 unique gins and spirits, including gin, whiskey, vodkas, and liquors Take a guided tour and learn about the gin-making process at the Cardrona Distillery Indulge in shared grazing platters and a traditional German tarte flambée Be greeted with a Gin & Tonic cocktail upon arrival Enjoy a personal small group tour with other gin lovers Be hosted by a fun and friendly Altitude Tours guide
Start your day by meeting your friendly guide at or near your Queenstown accommodation. From here, we will explore Cardrona, Arrowtown, and Queenstown, showcasing a talented range of distillers who use our unique environment to produce some of the smoothest and top award-winning spirits in New Zealand and around the world.
Throughout the afternoon, you'll enjoy three separate gin and spirit tasting experiences, with each location offering something special, including a distillery tour at the famous Cardrona Distillery. Enjoy a gin and tonic upon arrival, shared platters at two of the locations, and be hosted by an experienced guide and the tasting room staff, all of whom will educate and entertain you with distilling facts and stories.
Let us take you on New Zealand’s first gin tour and experience more with Altitude Tours. The 6-hour Gin Tour departs Queenstown on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 12:30pm, returning at 6:30pm.
Where we will go:
Cardrona Distillery
We start the tour traveling up the dramatic Crowne Range into the Cardrona Valley. See the quaint village as we drive through, past the famous bra fence, to the Cardrona Distillery, a family-owned and operated distiller producing handcrafted Single Malt Whisky, Gin, Vodka, and Liqueurs. Receive a Gin & Tonic cocktail on arrival, and be guided through their impressive distillery, before joining a private tasting of each of their spirits.
The Winery
We journey back down to the historic village of Arrowtown, famous for its rich gold-mining history and quaint shop fronts. Here we will visit a unique tasting room "The Winery", despite the name, The Winery offers tastings of a range of locally and nationally produced wines, and spirits, and it is here where you will have a tasting flight board of New Zealand gins, accompanied with a shared tasting platter. A great location to relax and get to know the fellow gin lovers on tour with you.
If you would like to take a break from spirits, you are able to switch to wine, and try some of the famous New Zealand wines - the choice is yours!
Gin Garden by Broken Heart Spirits
Our final location takes us to the small area of Arthurs Point, located only 5 minutes out of Queenstown, close to the Coronet Peak skifield. The Gin Garden is a tasting room and bar owned and operated by Broken Heart Spirits. Paired with an emotional and inspiring story of Master Distillers Joerg and Bernd, your host will take you on a tasting journey across a range of their award-winning gins and spirits enjoyed alongside traditional German tarte flambées.
Locations are subject to change, however in the case where we cannot visit one of the mentioned tasting rooms, it will replaced with an equally great location with great gins and spirits to taste.
We encourage you to eat a meal before the tour. While the tour includes platters, these will not be introduced until later in the afternoon.
