Maple Sugar Bush Tour & Tasting

Details
Join us on this adventure as we go to the best of rural Canada. We'll visit a Maple Sugar Bush for a Tour and Tasting. The farm owner himself will take you on a guided walk around to learn about the production of Maple Syrup. You'll get to sample shots of maple syrup: Golden, Amber & Dark. Eat maple taffy (hot syrup frozen on ice), try maple sap and more!
We'll then visit the Small Town of Elora, dubbed Ontario's prettiest village by Narcity and the Toronto Star. You'll have free time to wonder the streets, see the waterfall at the mill, or walk down to the Gorge to see the Grand River up close.
We'll then round the day out by visiting St Jacobs Farmers market, the largest indoor/outdoor market in Canada. With a large number of vendors belonging to the mennonite community, it's safe to say the produce at this farmers market is worth the trip alone. With a wide array of delicious food options, St jacobs festive atmosphere rounds out our rove into rural Ontario.
This tour will take place in our 15 passenger customized transit. Onboard we have a TV, basic WIFI, Games Console, Karaoke and more! However there is not a washroom. The drive is approximately 1 hour between places.

FAQ's

 What's included?

☑️Return transportation

☑️Entry permit for Algonquin provincial Park

☑️ Hiking in Nature

 Will there be food?

We suggest bringing some snacks with you to sustain the day. While we'll make a stop in Huntsville for a washroom/grocery break. A picnic on the hike is a good idea (not inculded) so planning for that is a suggestion. The visitor centre does have a cafeteria and a microwave if you'd like to heat food up. They have a donation system for the items available but please note, it is somewhat limited.

 Parking

We do our pick-ups from Yorkdale TTC passenger pick-up. We suggest taking public transportation to the meeting point. If you must take the car, the options are to park at Wilson Passenger pick-up and parking—this is free on the weekends and subject to availability. We would not suggest parking at Yorkdale Mall as vehicles may be ticketed or towed after 5 hours.

 Fitness

Generally speaking, Northbound tours gets a lot of millennials (20-45 year olds). While we don't exclude any age groups, we do emphasize that you know what you are signing up for. Hiking on trails is not the same as walking in the city. If you sign up and you are not able to hike, you will effect everyones day out and may be refused entry on the trip.

 Can I bring my pet?

We love animals, but we can't allow pets, we’re afraid. We will designate a few pet-friendly dates each year, but it's impossible for us to know if anyone has an allergy to dogs or cats, etc., ahead of time, and we don't want to cause any reactions in an enclosed space. We really do think dogs are paw-fect! And we will aim to offer some pet-friendly dates which will be clearly listed in the future.

Killarney - Hike the Crack

The Crack at Killarney Provincial park is regarded as one of the most difficult trails that are easily accessible. This trip may not be for everyone, we only encourage you to sign up if you are aware that it is a difficult trail and that you will be hiking 7.2km with an elevation gain of 257m. The last part of the trail is a climb which means mobility is necessary. It's worth noting that trails are different to walking in the city. Trails often have tree roots, rocks and uneven surfaces.

If you sign up for this trip and it comes to light that you are not capable of doing the trail, we may deny you boarding in Toronto. This is for your enjoyment and others who have signed up too.

Now that's out the way, let's talk about the fun stuff! The Crack at Killarney is a highly rewarding hike that gifts you sweeping views of the park and further afield. It'll get your heart rate up and you can make friends in the process too.

On this day out, we will drive north to Killarney Provincial park. We will make stops along the way in Parry Sound and a stop at the Suspension Bridge at French River. If you've never been with Northbound Tours before, we simply aim to have a good time in a safely assessed environment.

If the trails are icy or snowy, we will bring crampons and snow shoes. We encourage you to wear suitable clothing and shoes. Trainers may not be best suggested for this trail.

This trip will take place in our 15 passenger customized transit. Onboard we have a TV, basic WIFI, Games Console, Karaoke and more! However there is not a washroom. We will make washroom breaks every 1-2 hours.

Cranberry Plunge & Hardy Lake Hike

This is one for the Gram. We'll be heading Northbound to the Muskoka area for a fun day out in the beautiful Fall color season. We'll start the day by visiting Gravenhurst which is a town in the Muskoka region, here you will have free time to grab some brunch.

After that, we'll head over to the Muskoka Lakes Farm and Winery for a popular Fall time activity. You'll be given some chest waders so you can sink into the water surrounded by millions of Cranberries - it's a great way to get those awesome images.

While there are many trails, we'll head on the biggest and best around Hardy Lake which will serve up some good snaps. We'll gage the groups ability and pick the most suitable hike for the day.

Our tickets for the farm are often timed and based on availability, this means the order of events that we do may be moved around to accommodate our timed tickets.

 Fitness

If you're really into hiking then we suggest you join our camping trips to Algonquin, Killbear or Bruce Peninsula - all of those trips have longer hikes. There are two hikes on this Algonquin day trip - one at Ragged falls which is short and categorized as easy. The round trip takes 20 minutes and does go up an elevation. The second hike is the lookout hike which is classed as Moderate. It is 2.1 km long and does go up an elevation. The path is flat but if you have any fitness concerns, this trip may not be for you. We will also be doing approx 2 hours of group canoeing - the good news is that there are many people in each canoe so breaks are possible.
