This Waikato Ebike tour showcases the beauty and serenity of the Waikato river. A tour for riders of all abilities and fitness levels who want a leisurely riding experience with a taste of the wonderful scenery rural New Zealand has to offer and stunning views of the Waikato River.
Start with the gentle paved cycleway from Ngaruawahia to Te Rapa, and then continue onto Hamilton Gardens for some lunch beside the river. If 25km has been enough for you then you can call it a day. Otherwise there is more great riding on the other side of the Gardens.
After Lunch you have your choice of continuing on the Te Awa River trail out through Cambridge and onto Karapiro Lake (30km). Alternatively your guide can offer you a guided ride round south -eastern Hamilton where you will ride past Waikato University, try out your skills on the pump track or the circuit lap, experience the beauty of a preserved natural grove of historic significance and then circle back round some the lesser known cycle paths, (15km).
Itinerary:
8:00-8:30 - Pickup from Auckland Pickup point, (or Auckland hotel)
8:30-10:15 - Travel to trail head
10:15 - 10:30 - Bike setup per rider and safety briefing
10:30 -11:30 - Ride 12km from Ngaruawahia to Pukete (Hamilton) for morning tea stop
11:45 - 13:00 - Ride 15km from Pukete to Hamilton Gardens
13:00 - 13:45 - Lunch in Hamilton Gardens
14:00 - 15:45 - Ride 25km from Hamilton Gardens to Cambridge Velodrome (option to ride an additional 15km to Lake Karapiro)
15:45 - 18:00 - Packup and travel back to Auckland drop-off point/hotel

Hauraki Rail Trail (2 days)
Details
Easy Grade 1-2 riding, with flat wide trails this rail trail starts north of Thames with riding along the Shorebird Coast, then flows through lush farmlands, to Paeroa and then heads South to Matamata, home of the Hobbiton Movie Set. There’s a popular offshoot between Paeroa and Waihi through the splendid and scenic Karangahake Gorge which is 48km return. In total there is almost 200km of riding, (197km to be exact), to choose from with plenty of sightseeing sites along the way.
Tour can be extended beyond two days, with additional accommodation and bike hire. Shuttle ex Auckland additional cost, ($300 one way, $500 return for up to 6 people)

Tour Details:
Following a smooth rail trail, cycle paths, wetland boardwalk, suspension bridges and country roads, this 84km trail is both relaxing and highly rewarding with a huge amount of variety in scenery.
As you ride this trail you will experience complete immersion into some of New Zealand’s rural heartland, with rolling farmlands and backcountry townships that will leave you with lasting memories of old fashioned kiwi hospitality.
You can ride anything from 15km per day through to 50km, (or more if you really want to!), and our support wagon will not be far away the whole time.
B&B accommodation options can also be sorted by your R&R Adventures staff for either a two or three night stay in the ‘winterless’ north.
As well as add on tours in the area or even a trip to the fantastic Waitangi Mountain Bike park for the more adventurous*

The Waikato River trails are truly extraordinary for a backcountry riding experience in the Waikato area. You feel like you are in the back of beyond with lush bush on one side of the trail and the mighty river on the other, with glimpses of rolling green farmland on the far bank.

Take our recommendations, take advantage of our support, and take a ride into the old time back country of the central north Island.
There’s 100km of trail to explore along this network and each of the five sections offers different sights and a different experience. From an up close look at a several of the dams on the Waikato, across multiple swing bridges and boardwalks to just plain stunning riding alongside the river, these trails have it all.
This tour includes two nights' accommodation in a lakeside cottage in Mangakino.
